.....So, one may wonder what is really different about this church, so far maybe you have not heard or read anything that really stands out.  Let us examine what some of these things may be.  Some of the goals that the  Our Home Church strive to accomplish are listed below:

Encourage a sense of belonging among all members

Evangelizing to find and lead lost souls to Christ

Promote brotherly love within the congregation

Create a warm and comfortable environment

To baptize new converts into the church

Encourage fellowship with each other

To strengthen the faith of believers

To strengthen our young adolescents and teens we are considering an extended

program to teach them, in addition to spirituality in Christ, some basic

entrepreneurship while they can actually earn money.

Now that you see some of our goals just how do we intend to promote these ideas?  Well let's look at some of our ideas toward implementation:

Evangelizing may consist of reaching out to co-workers, customers, neighbors, relatives, friends, other loved ones, passer-bys or any other appropriate method.  The idea is to lead lost souls to Christ by introducing them to the good news (gospel) of his saving grace so they will have the opportunity to share in his wonderful blessings that all of God's children in Christ, enjoy.  This of course includes residing with the Lord forever after our journey through this lifetime is over rather than spending an eternity in hell.

To strengthen the faith of the church body by preaching and teaching the word of God during church services, bible studies, casual conversations, and etc.

Sunday morning service convenes immediately following a hearty breakfast for all.  Having a meal together is a way of promoting family interaction as well as alleviating some of the hassles that families with children must endure every Sunday morning.  I think most of us know what it is like to get children and the whole family ready for church or Sunday school.  One act of love is to eliminate the need for preparing breakfast at home.  I think it is truly a blessing to share in partaking of the first meal of the day with the entire church family.   This is a great way to encourage fellowship, letting the members get to know each other better. Of course someone in the church family has to do the shopping and preparations.

The Sunday service preaching and teaching are combined in a sense.  The sermon will usually be of somewhat slightly less duration than we are accustomed to and will be immediately followed by a congregational bible discussion centered around the same topic (text) of the sermon.  The bible discussion will usually be led by the speaker or one of the elders or perhaps a deacon.  This interaction with each other in a friendly atmosphere also encourages fellowship.  It also helps each member and visitor to better understand the message of the sermon and other areas of the bible while achieving a feeling of belonging and having a place of value.

Immediately following each fourth Sunday morning service there will be a free church dinner for everyone in attendance including visitors.  This will usually be of a pot luck variety.  We see this as a convenience for many and another opportunity of church wide fellowship for all.

Approximately once every three months the fourth Sunday dinner will take the form of what we call a progressive dinner which in my experience is a ton of fun.  This basically means as follows;

One or more homes will be involved, depending on the number of persons involved.

The dinner will be served in one or more different homes or sets of homes.

Everyone will have to travel to the first home or set of homes for soup and salad and/or appetizers in a caravan of vehicles.

Then we travel to the next home or set of homes for the main course.

Dessert will be served at yet another home or set of homes, again we travel.

And finally we will have fellowship in a fourth home or set of homes. in this setting we play board or trivial games usually focused on reinforcing our knowledge of the bible.  there may be games with the women competing with the men or children against adults.  This must be maintained in a very warm and friendly spirit.

The members of the congregation will each belong to a voluntary family group.  Each of these is a small group of families that will meet each Wednesday evening in the home of one of the members of the group or in some other appropriate place they designate.  Each family group has a designated spiritual leader elected by the general consensus of the congregation at large, usually by voting.  The main purpose of the family groups is to promote brotherly love and fellowship.  The groups may choose independently from a general list of activities approved by the elders of the church for each Wednesday meeting.  This may include worship, bible studies, prayer, games and other forms of entertainment.

Approximately once every three months the groups will all meet together in a church wide setting that may be held either in the church building or outside of it.
